Our Teachers

 

Cathy Mullins has been teaching Kindermusik in the Owensboro area since 2004 and in the past year, has also been teaching beginning piano for the Owensboro Symphony Academy.  Ms. Cathy received her Bachelor of Arts from Morehead State University and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University. Upon completing her first year as a Kindermusik Educator, Cathy was honored by Kindermusik International earning the Kindermusik Maestro Award in recognition of total number of families served. In addition, Cathy was recently honored as a Kindermusik Meastro in Outreach by Kindermusik International in recognition of contributions to the local community.  Cathy and her husband, Tom, have three children.  Both sons, Shaun and Brandon, presently serve in the US Army and daughter, Bethany, will be a freshman in college this fall.  Cathy is a pianist and vocalist for the Good Shepherd Church Music Ministry and is a member of the Owensboro Symphony Chorus.   In addition, Ms. Cathy is an adjunct faculty member of both Western Kentucky University and Owensboro Community and Technical College. 

Angela Choi Since December 2005, Ms. Choi has been Music Librarian for the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Piano Instructor for the Owensboro Symphony Academy.  Ms. Choi received her Bachelor of Music Education with emphasis on Piano from Sahmyook University in South Korea and upon moving to US, has enrolled as Master of Arts in Music Education graduate student at Western Kentucky University where she will be graduating in the summer of 2010.  In the past, she has been a member of many choral ensembles, has served as pianist for various churches and has studied the Kodaly method at Western Kentucky University.  She is the organist at St. John United Church of Christ in Evansville, IN and Pianist for the Owensboro Seventh-day Adventist Church. For the past two years, she has been accompanying her son, Nathaniel to his Kindermusik classes and with encouragement from Ms. Mullins, decided to further study her Kindermusik teaching certification. Along with her son and Husband (Maestro Joseph Choi, Associate Conductor of Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra) they reside in Owensboro.

Katie Redfern has been teaching Kindermusik in the Owensboro area for three years.  Katie is a joyful teacher who shares lots of love and enthusiasm with her students.  Katie receieved a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music from Murray State University.   She teaches music at Heritage Christian School and is also a private piano instructor. Katie and her husband Mark recently returned from Africa with their beautiful son, Judson.  Katie is taking some needed time for family and will return to our teaching schedule soon.
